Log Time from Your Computer's Menu Bar
Tim also comes as a small app for Mac and Windows. It puts an icon in the menu bar (Mac) or the system tray next to the clock (Windows). Click it, and a little form pops up to log your hours — no browser, no tab to find.
Everything else (your week, invoices, your profile) stays in the web app. The tray app is just the fastest way to add an entry.
Install
Your admin gives you the installer for your computer:
- Mac — a
.dmg. Open it and drag Tim to Applications. The app is not signed with Apple yet, so the first time, right-click Tim → Open and confirm; after that it opens normally. - Windows — a
Tim … setup.exe. Run it. If SmartScreen shows a blue warning, click More info → Run anyway.
When it runs, a small clock icon appears:
- Mac — in the menu bar at the top of the screen. The app has no Dock icon; the menu bar icon is the app.
- Windows — in the system tray, bottom right. If you don't see it, click the ^ arrow to show hidden icons, and drag it onto the taskbar so it is always visible.
First use
- Click the icon.
- The popup shows the Tim sign-in page. Sign in as you do on the web.
- If you belong to several workspaces, pick one.
You stay signed in for the next uses. If the popup ever shows the sign-in page again, just sign in; it brings you back to the form.
Add an entry
- Click the icon — the form opens next to it.
- Fill it in the same way as Log Time Manually: project, task, day, and either your start/end times or just a duration. Reprendre la dernière saisie prefills from your last entry.
- Click Ajouter.
A tick confirms the save and the popup closes by itself. Your entry appears in the web app like any other.
Closing and quitting
- Clicking anywhere outside the popup, or pressing Esc, closes it. Your session stays.
- Right-click the icon for the menu: Nouvelle saisie, Ouvrir Tim dans le navigateur, and Quitter Tim.
- The app keeps running in the background after you close the popup. To launch it at login, add it to your login items (Mac: System Settings → General → Login Items; Windows: Settings → Apps → Startup).
Tips
- The form always starts fresh on today's date, even if the app has been running for days.
- You need to be online: the popup is the live Tim site.
